Anthropic reported $11.6 billion in revenue and $974 million in operating profit for the second quarter of 2026, according to its registration statement filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on October 26.
Revenue rose 1,368% year-on-year as the Claude developer prepared to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT.
The company generated $16.3 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026.
Anthropic’s second-quarter operating profit marks a shift from its $693 million operating loss for the first half of 2025.
Its adjusted operating income, a non-GAAP measure, reached $1.62 billion for the first six months of 2026, compared with a loss of $1.85 billion in the year-earlier period.
The company’s growing enterprise business, including adoption of Claude Code, has driven revenue growth.
More than half of Fortune 500 companies were customers, generating at least $100,000 in revenue over the 12 months ended September 30.
The company held $131.65 billion in cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments as of June 30.
However, its infrastructure requirements remain substantial. Compute and infrastructure expenses totalled $8.95 billion in the first half, making them its largest operating expense.
Anthropic’s infrastructure requirements remain substantial. The company has committed to more than $600 billion in computing and infrastructure spending across approximately eight partners over the coming decade, according to its IPO filing.
The commitments include at least $110 billion with Amazon, $114.5 billion with Google and $44.9 billion with Microsoft.
Some agreements require payments regardless of actual compute usage, exposing Anthropic to substantial fixed costs if demand or revenue growth falls short of expectations.
Its workforce stood at approximately 5,300 employees as of September 30. Based on that headcount, first-half revenue per employee was about $3.1 million, or $6.1 million annualised.
These estimates use the reported workforce figure rather than the period’s average headcount.
The filing also disclosed an $80.7 billion net loss for the first half of 2026, largely driven by a $72.4 billion accounting charge arising from changes in the fair value of financing instruments. This figure is distinct from cash burn and operating performance.
Anthropic warned investors that revenue growth may slow, infrastructure spending could rise, and reliance on a limited number of cloud providers creates operational dependencies. Its prospectus also details risks involving model misuse, security vulnerabilities and the possibility that AI capabilities could advance faster than the company’s ability to implement corresponding safety measures.
