xAI’s Grok models are now available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), which allows customers to use the models through OCI’s generative AI service for tasks such as content generation, research, and business process automation.
The announcement, made on June 17, confirms that xAI has selected Oracle to support the training and deployment of its latest Grok models, including Grok 3. xAI will use OCI’s AI infrastructure to benefit from its scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
“Grok 3 represents a leap forward in AI capabilities, and Oracle’s advanced data platform will accelerate its impact on enterprises,” Jimmy Ba, co-founder at xAI, said in a statement. “This collaboration between xAI and Oracle is set to redefine enterprise-grade AI.”
Oracle said that Grok models will run on OCI Compute instances and benefit from the platform’s price-performance and scalability. Data sent by Oracle to Grok models will be processed on zero data retention endpoints.
“By bringing xAI’s cutting-edge Grok models to our customers, we are expanding the possibilities of AI in the enterprise,” Greg Pavlik, executive vice president, AI and data management services at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, said in a statement. “This partnership underscores our commitment to providing the most advanced AI solutions, giving organisations greater choice and flexibility in deploying the latest AI technologies.”
Founded in March 2023, xAI focuses on building AI systems capable of advanced reasoning. Grok 3 is trained using large-scale reinforcement learning and performs well in mathematics, coding, and language tasks. The models are integrated with OCI’s enterprise-grade governance and security capabilities.
Windstream, a telecommunications provider, is exploring the use of xAI’s multimodal models via OCI. “In the fast-paced and ever-evolving landscape of telecommunications, there’s no shortage of ways AI can benefit our business,” Kaushik Bhanderi, senior vice president at Windstream, said. “We think there could be real advantages to leveraging Grok models via OCI Generative AI service, integrating language comprehension and reasoning to propose meaningful actions.”
Oracle said its infrastructure supports generative AI, agentic AI, natural language processing, and computer vision. Thousands of AI companies are using OCI’s bare metal GPU instances to run intensive AI workloads.
