SAP Labs India Opens Second Campus in Bengaluru with €194 Million Investment

SAP Labs India inaugurated its second campus in Bengaluru today, backed by a €194 million investment, marking a significant expansion of its operations in the country.

The new facility, located near the Bengaluru International Airport, will accommodate up to 15,000 professionals and further strengthen India’s position in SAP’s global innovation network.

The inauguration was attended by key dignitaries including Shri Siddaramaiah, chief minister of Karnataka; Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, minister for railways, information & broadcasting, and electronics & information technology; Shri Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s IT minister; Thomas Saueressig, executive board member, SAP SE; Sindhu Gangadharan, managing director, SAP Labs India; and Dr Philipp Ackermann, German ambassador to India.

“This campus is a strategic asset in SAP’s global portfolio, enabling us to lead with innovation and purpose,” said Thomas Saueressig. “It is a global innovation hub that will help our customers move from insight to action with enterprise-grade AI, data, and applications created right here in India.”

Gangadharan added, “Designed to house 15,000 future-focused professionals, this campus is where customer-centric innovation meets employee well-being, and where SAP’s commitment to India’s growth story deepens—not just for today, but for decades to come.”

The new SAP Labs India Innovation Park includes India’s second SAP Experience Centre and features an AI-powered micro market called S.Market, developed with Compass Group.

The facility integrates sustainability measures such as solar power, a rainwater retention lake, smart waste management, and over 2,000 native trees. It also includes inclusive features like tactile pathways, braille signage, ramps, and gender-neutral restrooms.

“This campus reflects the growing role of Karnataka and India as epicentres of tech talent and innovation for the world,” said Siddaramaiah.

Vaishnaw noted, “This is a timely investment in India’s growth story. It reflects global confidence in India’s talent and innovation ecosystem and supports the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.”

As part of the launch, SAP Labs India announced a series of academic partnerships to advance digital skills, applied research, and industry-academia collaboration. A €100,000 AI Career Accelerator Programme has been launched in partnership with EduBridge, aiming to train 400 students from underserved communities for roles in AI-enabled industries.

SAP will also collaborate with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya to co-develop academic curricula and strengthen engagement between academia and industry through joint research and executive programmes.

In partnership with IIT Madras, SAP will support AI-driven brain research to predict health conditions and suggest treatment options using public data, with a focus on digital healthcare innovation.

Additionally, SAP will expand its existing collaboration with the Technical University of Munich to its India operations, concentrating on quantum computing, HealthTech data initiatives, and physical AI.

Subject to regulatory approvals, TUM plans to set up an office at the SAP Labs India Innovation Park to facilitate deeper research collaboration.

With over 17,300 employees across India, SAP Labs India is SAP’s largest R&D hub outside Germany. The company also has offices in Gurugram, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune. The Whitefield campus in Bengaluru remains a key operational site.
