Namma Yatri has rolled out Namma Transit, a new feature in its app on July 25, designed to transform the way Bengalureans use public transport. The goal is to make daily commutes smoother, faster, greener, and more affordable by guiding users step-by-step throughout their entire journey.
With Namma Transit, the app becomes a personal transit assistant. It helps commuters plan their route from home to destination, telling them which metro station to go to, which gate and platform to use and when to switch between metro, auto or cab—all in real time. Users also get alerts on train arrival times, station exits, and reminders on when to disembark.
This launch follows shortly after Namma Yatri and Tummoc announced the integration of Bengaluru’s public transport system into their apps. The integration came as a result of their win in a challenge organised by Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), WRI, and Villgro, with support from BMTC and BMRCL.
Meanwhile, NammaYatri has adopted Juspay’s KV Framework—a high-performance, distributed key-value store built on Redis. This integration has played a key role in optimising real-time data processing, improving scalability and reducing infrastructure costs.
“Mobility should feel like magic, not a daily grind. With Namma Transit, we’ve designed every element, from booking to alerts—to make public transport the first choice,” Namma Yatri’s founders Magizhan Selvan and Shan MS, said.
The company also unveiled its #MadeForBLR: Namma Mobility Blueprint 2030, a 10-point plan to reshape the city’s commute. The vision includes 70% of all trips via public transport, a 50% reduction in commute time and emissions and easier first/last-mile access.
The blueprint calls on citizens to make sustainable choices, employers to support commute options and the government to expand metro and bus services, improve EV infrastructure and enable seamless, multimodal travel. It also urges the market to support driver livelihoods and integrate transport systems.
Currently, Namma Transit is available for select users and will be rolled out more widely over the next week.
