Keysight Secures NATO Contract to Enhance Radar and Electronic Warfare

Keysight Technologies has been awarded a contract to modernise NATO’s radar and electronic support measures (ESM) testing capabilities. The agreement, announced on Tuesday, will see Keysight deliver advanced Radar Target Generators and Electronic Warfare (EW) threat simulation systems to NATO’s Naval Forces Sensor and Weapons Accuracy Check Sites (FORACS).

These solutions are designed to improve the calibration, maintenance, and assessment of radar systems across NATO Navy bases. The new systems are specifically tailored to meet NATO’s evolving defence requirements, ensuring that radar systems and ESM tools remain highly effective.

The systems to be delivered will feature several key factors, including high-fidelity radar target generation, sophisticated electronic warfare (EW) threat simulation, customisable, open-architecture design, and deployable and modular configuration.

Thierry Locquette, VP and GM at Keysight, emphasised the importance of the systems in verifying and enhancing the accuracy of radar and ESM technologies, which are vital for mission success in complex electromagnetic environments.

“Our Radar Target Generator solution was developed in Europe, working closely with our local R&D and solution centres as well as with European technology partners to provide a highly realistic, flexible, and future-ready test capability for NATO,” Locquette said.

The Radar Target Generators will simulate precise radar returns, enabling accurate testing of radar tracking, while the EW simulators will create advanced electromagnetic threat environments to evaluate ESM effectiveness.

Additionally, the modular and deployable systems can be upgraded and adapted for future mission requirements, providing NATO forces with flexible testing solutions across multiple sites. This contract highlights Keysight’s role in supporting NATO’s readiness in an increasingly contested electromagnetic spectrum.

The systems will be deployed at NATO bases to assess and optimise operational readiness across member nations rigorously. The integration of these solutions marks a significant step in modernising NATO’s defence technologies to counter the evolving threats in global security.
