JetBrains Unveils Kineto to Build Apps, Websites in 20 Minutes Without Coding

Announced on August 5, Kineto is JetBrains’ entry into the no-code ecosystem, aiming to make app development as simple as posting on social media. The company claims that with Kineto, users can turn a prompt into a functional web app, complete with backend, database and UI, all within 20 minutes.

JetBrains believes Kineto will serve as a bridge between creative individuals and technical platforms, fuelling a “creative developer economy”.

Kineto starts with a prompt, where users describe the idea for their app. The system then generates the app architecture, design and functionality automatically. Users can fine-tune the app via a ‘Meta Layer’ interface, adjust visuals, embed media and eventually publish their apps directly from the platform.

Currently, Kineto supports simple, single-purpose apps like blogs, planners or fitness trackers. However, JetBrains plans to expand its capabilities to handle more complex applications and hosting.

With this release, JetBrains is also opening an Early Access Programme targeted at non-coders. Selected users will get full access and personalised guidance from the Kineto team. Preference will be given to applicants with clearly defined ideas.

We and our tools take care of the coding, so you can focus on being creative,” the company wrote on the blog post.

Recently, JetBrains unified its AI tools, including the upgraded AI Assistant and Claude-powered coding agent Junie, across all IDEs with a new subscription model and free tier.

The company, known for tools like IntelliJ IDEA and PyCharm, has spent over two decades building software for professional developers. Kineto could be an attempt to stay relevant with AI-powered no-code platforms out there, making software creation accessible to the rest of the world.
