Infosys, India’s homegrown IT and consulting firm, partnered with the Linux Foundation Networking (LFN) on Monday to advance Responsible AI principles and support AI adoption across global networks.
This collaboration aims to ensure AI is used ethically and transparently across the network industry. As part of the initiative, Infosys has contributed its Responsible AI Toolkit and AI application development framework to two new open-source networking projects, Salus and Essedum.
These projects are designed to help organisations implement AI and reduce the risk of bias or privacy concerns.
Salus provides technical guidelines to detect and mitigate AI risks like harmful content, privacy violations, and biased outputs. Essedum helps integrate AI data, models, and applications into the networking industry.
Arpit Joshipura, general manager of networking, edge, and IoT at the Linux Foundation, commented, “Creating combined, open and unified frameworks will only accelerate AI-driven innovation.”
Meanwhile, Mohammed Rafee Tarafdar, chief technology officer at Infosys, emphasised the importance of the collaboration, saying, “With our strong AI capabilities, powered by Infosys Topaz, we actively support this endeavor, helping organisations harness domain-specific AI responsibly and effectively across global networks.”
The Responsible AI Toolkit is built on Infosys’ AI3S framework (Scan, Shield, and Steer), integrating advanced guardrails such as AI models and shielding algorithms that detect and address security threats, privacy breaches, biased outputs, deepfakes, and other risks.
It also enhances explainability, providing insights into AI-generated decisions without compromising performance. Designed for flexibility, the toolkit is customisable, compatible with various AI systems, and supports both cloud, and on-premise deployments.
