Infosys AI Revenue Rises 29% in Q2, FY27 Growth Guidance Cut

Infosys’ AI revenue grew 29% sequentially in the September quarter, accounting for 10.5% of total revenue, even as the company cut its full-year FY27 revenue growth guidance to 1%-2% in constant currency from 1.5%-3%.

The company reported second-quarter revenue of $5.145 billion, up 1.5% year on year and 1.2% sequentially in constant-currency terms. Operating margin remained at 21%.

For IT services firms, AI can drive demand for consulting, implementation, and engineering work while reducing the hours needed to deliver existing contracts. Whether vendors can win enough new business to offset those efficiencies remains a key question for the sector.

Infosys recorded $5.2 billion in large-deal total contract value (TCV), with 62% classified as net new business. The bookings included a mega deal worth more than $2 billion, CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh said.

“We had strong large deals of $5.2 billion, including a mega deal of over $2 billion,” Parekh said. He also noted that AI revenue accounted for 10.5% of total revenue and grew 29% quarter-on-quarter.

The deal value points to potential future business, but its contribution to revenue will depend on how quickly the contracts ramp up.

Infosys has also been incorporating AI software engineering tools into its development work. One example is its partnership with Cognition to deploy the Devin AI software engineer across internal engineering operations and client engagements.

The company lowered its FY27 constant-currency revenue growth forecast to 1%-2%, from 1.5%-3%, while retaining its operating margin guidance at 20%-22%. The revised outlook comes amid cautious client spending, slower decision-making and pressure on traditional IT services pricing. Tech Mahindra’s margin performance and its next AI challenge offer another perspective on the relationship between operational efficiency and AI economics.

Infosys reported free cash flow of $928 million for the quarter, down 15.7% year on year. Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka said the company had maintained margins amid a volatile operating environment.

“We delivered operating margins of 21.0% in Q2 amidst heightened volatility,” Sanghrajka said. He attributed the stable margin to cost and operational efficiency measures, along with continued investment.

The revised guidance leaves Infosys targeting modest growth for the full financial year despite its large deal wins and growing AI business.
