New and expanded sectors across data centres, cybersecurity, mobility and finance deliver fresh applications of tech as Africa’s digital ambition moves to large-scale implementation
6 April 2026: With Africa’s digital economy entering its next phase of execution, governments, enterprises and investors accelerate efforts to deploy infrastructure and capabilities to support sustained growth. In response to this shift, GITEX AFRICA Morocco has expanded its sector focus to address enablers shaping the continent’s digital future, from data centre capacity and cybersecurity resilience to financial systems and next generation mobility.
Taking place from 7-9 April 2026, GITEX Africa Morocco brings together 1,450+ exhibiting companies and startups, alongside participants from over 130+ countries. It is held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, under the authority of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, hosted by the Digital Development Agency (ADD) and organised by KAOUN International – the global organiser of GITEX events.
Global participation reinforces Africa’s role in the digital economy
The 2026 edition represents an expanded international footprint, with participation from Europe, the Midde East and Asia, as well as increased representation from Africa’s digital economies. First-time country delegations, including Thailand and Korea, signal global alignment around Africa’s technology growth.
This is reinforced by participation from global technology and infrastructure leaders such as Ericsson, and financial institutions like Mastercard, working with African partners to advance cloud, connectivity and digital financial systems. The conference programme also welcomes senior policymakers and leaders, including representatives from the European Commission and leading telecom operators.
Data centre capacity and infrastructure are central to Africa’s AI readiness
GITEX AFRICA Morocco’s introduction of the Data Centre Intelligent Infrastructure (DCII) sector addresses the continent’s demand for compute capacity, connectivity and energy systems. With Morocco advancing its national data centre agenda across Casablanca, Dakhla and Settat, and parallel expansions underway across key African markets, international providers (Schneider Electric, N+One Data Centres, Vertiv, Nokia, Honeywell, Huawei, APL Data Centre) are working closer with governments to build infrastructure to support digital ecosystems.
Future mobility and financial systems expand Africa’s economic horizons
Reflecting broader industrial transformation, GITEX AFRICA Morocco introduces its first Mobility Park, bringing together global automotive and mobility leaders to show advances in electric, autonomous and connected transportation systems. As Morocco advances its position in the electric vehicle and battery supply chain, mobility has emerged as a key pilar of economic development.
Hyundai, the global automotive leader, and GITEX AFRICA Morocco’s official transportation partner, is presenting its latest electric mobility innovations, with a strong focus on its IONIQ lineup.
Youssef Bennis, General Manager, Hyundai Maroc said: “GITEX Africa was never a strategic choice for Hyundai; it was a natural one. Since its inception, Hyundai has been driven by a vision that places innovation, technology, and human-centred mobility at the core of its DNA. In that sense, partnering with GITEX simply reflects who we are. It is an opportunity to engage with a forward-looking ecosystem and to demonstrate how mobility continues to evolve alongside the technologies shaping our world.”
Elsewhere, the expanded Future Banking and Finance sector brings together international institutions and technology providers to support evolution of digitalisation, financial inclusion and cross-border payments.
Saham Bank, one of Morocco’s key banking institutions is also taking part in the judging panel for GITEX AFRICA Morocco’s Supernova startup pitch competition. They aim to empower and support the next generation of companies securing payments across the region.
Ahmed El Yacoubi, CEO, Saham Bank, said: ‘’Africa is emerging as the most dynamic fintech market in the world. At Saham Bank, participating to GITEX AFRICA means supporting startups who are reinventing innovation, fostering inclusion, and opening new perspectives for the continent’s economic future.’’
Fintech unicorn, Wave – which is participating across GITEX AFRICA Morocco’s conference programme and delivering exclusive content named “The Future of Money, Built for Africa” – believe accessibility and simplicity are key to driving transformation at scale. Awa Gueye, Regional Public Policy Lead, Wave Mobile Money, said: “Africa is not just participating in the future of finance; it is helping define it. Across the continent, we are seeing a powerful shift toward financial services that are more accessible, more affordable, and more relevant to the realities of everyday users.”
As a major platform for international digital cooperation, GITEX AFRICA Morocco will consolidate its role as a structuring force in advancing an ambitious, innovative, and sovereign digital Africa. Building on the resounding success of previous editions, the event is poised to cultivate new alliances and explore increasingly tech-critical sectors, further amplifying its standing and contribution across Africa’s digital landscape.
