ElevenLabs has launched a new command-line interface (CLI) tool that allows developers to manage conversational AI agents as code, bringing version control, automation, and deployment consistency to voice and chat agent workflows.
The CLI replaces manual setup through web interfaces with version-controlled configuration files, allowing agents to be deployed and managed like any other application. With built-in support for multi-environment configurations, webhook and client-side tool integrations, and secure authentication, the CLI fits cleanly into modern DevOps pipelines.
Developers can now roll back changes, track updates via Git, and sync agents with ElevenLabs’ platform using simple terminal commands.
The tool also includes a local scratchpad, enabling coding agents such as Claude Code to reason about and update AI agents programmatically. It supports rapid creation of customer support bots, documentation agents that stay in sync with the codebase, and assistants aware of website routes.
Developers can create agents using prebuilt templates, sync them across environments, and generate embeddable widgets for web deployment.
The CLI also supports HTML widget generation and secure key handling through OS keychains and CI/CD environment variables.
“Agents are now version-controlled with Git. Roll back to previous states, audit every change, and deploy updates through your CI/CD pipelines,” ElevenLabs stated on X. The tool is available on GitHub, allowing developers to inspect and contribute to its codebase.
While various companies offer their take on using a CLI, ElevenLabs is aligning voice AI development with the same principles that underpin modern software engineering.
Recently, ElevenLabs partnered with Meesho to deploy a multilingual AI voice agent, handling over 60,000 daily customer calls in Hindi and English. Built using ElevenLabs’ TTS tech, the solution enhances user trust and accessibility across tier 2 and 3 cities, while showcasing voice AI’s growing role in digital customer support.
