Celonis to Triple India Workforce to 1,500 by 2027, Calls Country Its ‘Future’

Celonis president Carsten Thoma said the company will expand its presence in India, making the country a core part of its global operations. By 2027, the company plans to have one-third of its global workforce—about 1,500 employees—based in India, up from nearly 300 at the end of the current fiscal year.

Speaking at Celosphere 2025, Thoma said India’s rise in global corporate power and its growing base of skilled AI and process intelligence professionals make it central to Celonis’ future.

“When I left SAP in 2018, India had only two companies in the Global 2000. Today, just six and a half years later, there are 65. That kind of growth is fascinating to watch,” he said.

Thoma added that a “huge percentage” of Celonis’ power users work in India and within global capability centres (GCCs). He said these GCCs are transforming into full-fledged international hubs where many technology and process decisions are now made locally.

“India is no longer just about shared services. Decision-making is happening there, and process intelligence adoption is being led from India,” he said.

Citing the country’s young workforce, Thoma noted that India has around 680 million people under 25, compared with 240 million across North America and Europe combined. “There’s absolutely no version of this world where India isn’t crucial for the overall balance,” he said, adding that Celonis’ internal slogan is #IndiaIsOurFuture.

Thoma, who also serves as the company’s CEO sponsor for India, said the company is fully committed to its expansion plans and will continue to strengthen its engagement with Indian enterprises and global hubs operating from the country.

Moreover, it also announced its partnership with Databricks to connect process intelligence with data intelligence, aiming to make enterprise AI more effective by giving it real business context.
