HCLTech has launched a nano Global Capability Centre (GCC) offering built on Amazon Web Services (AWS), targeting enterprises looking to establish AI-focused operations through smaller, product-centric teams.
The offering is part of HCLTech’s GCC 360 suite and combines its GCC advisory capabilities with AI platforms, including AI Force. AWS will provide cloud infrastructure, agentic AI services and joint go-to-market support.
The model targets two groups: enterprises with existing GCCs looking to introduce AI capabilities alongside conventional operations, and mid-market companies seeking to establish an India presence without setting up a large centre.
HCLTech said the model lets companies start with specific use cases, establish AI-native operating models, and expand operations progressively. Existing GCCs can use a hub-and-spoke model anchored at HCLTech’s Lucknow campus.
The offering centres on compact, product-centric teams and AI-enabled workflows. It covers AI-native engineering, autonomous IT operations, advanced data and analytics, and intelligent business operations. HCLTech will lead the design and implementation of the operating model, while AWS will provide access to services including Amazon Bedrock, Kiro and AWS Transform.
Kiran Cherukuri, Executive Vice President and Global GCC Practice Leader at HCLTech, said the rationale for setting up GCCs was changing.
“What began as a cost and talent strategy is becoming the primary engine for enterprise AI capability building,” Cherukuri said.
HCLTech said it would initially roll out the offering across Asia Pacific (APAC). The company’s India-based delivery organisation will deliver it, with support from its Centre of Excellence in Lucknow.
Prabhakar Appana, Senior Vice President and Global Head of the AWS Ecosystem Business Unit at HCLTech, said the model would allow enterprises to start with focused use cases and expand as their requirements change.
The launch comes as companies explore ways to move AI projects into production. Forward-deployed engineers are emerging as a critical GCC role as enterprises look to integrate AI systems into existing operations.
HCLTech did not disclose the offering’s pricing, expected investment, customer deployments or revenue targets.
