Telangana Targets 100 GCCs by 2025–26, Bets on MedTech

Telangana is aiming to hit a significant milestone in its economic and innovation journey by targeting the establishment of 100 global capability centres (GCCs) by 2025–26, state IT, industries and legislative affairs minister Sridhar Babu Duddilla wrote on X.

“This is not about competing with others but about outdoing ourselves,” Duddilla said. “Our target is 100 GCCs by 2025–26, and we are moving ahead with a clear, strategic action plan.”

He further stated that in 2024–25 alone, Hyderabad saw the inauguration of 70 GCCs, more than any other state in the country. With an aggressive and clearly defined strategy, Telangana is positioning itself as a hub for global enterprises, especially in MedTech, digital health and AI-driven life sciences.

A key focus of this push is on MedTech and innovation-led healthcare sectors. The state is also aligning its industry policy with sunrise sectors like life sciences, AI in healthcare and digital therapeutics.

“Telangana is the only state to integrate its industry policy with emerging sectors like life sciences, digital health and AI in healthcare,” Duddilla added.

Telangana produces over 3 lakh STEM graduates annually and offers specialised infrastructure through Genome Valley, MedTech Parks, and R&D clusters.

This environment has already attracted industry giants like Novartis, Medtronic, and, most recently, Eli Lilly, which has announced its GCC in Hyderabad.

The Eli Lilly GCC is expected to set new benchmarks in AI-led drug discovery, clinical platforms and regulatory systems. Telangana has leased out over 11 million square feet of R&D and MedTech space for building out innovation ecosystems for global firms.
