Vahan.ai, one of India’s largest AI-based recruitment platforms for blue-collar workers, has received a strategic investment from LemmaTree, an investment firm founded by Singapore-based Temasek.
As part of the deal, Vahan.ai has also acquired L.earn, a mobile-first digital upskilling platform from GoodWorker, which was also backed by LemmaTree.
The fresh capital will help Vahan.ai expand its AI capabilities, improve its multilingual recruitment infrastructure, and move toward its goal of placing over 1 lakh workers per month.
Currently, the company places around 40,000 candidates monthly, and has facilitated over one million placements across 920+ cities, working with major employers such as Zepto, Swiggy, Blinkit, and Zomato.
“With LemmaTree’s backing and the integration of L.earn, we’re reimagining how workers access livelihoods—through voice-led interfaces, multilingual support, and embedded skills that adapt to each user’s context,” Madhav Krishna, CEO and founder of Vahan.ai, said.
Vahan.ai’s platform is centered around a voice-based AI recruiter powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o. It can interact with job seekers in English and Hindi over the phone, helping them discover, apply, and schedule interviews with minimal friction. The AI system manages thousands of interactions daily, streamlining recruitment while overcoming barriers like digital illiteracy and language.

The platform now plans to extend its support to eight more Indian languages, targeting deeper penetration in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. It is also looking to tap into new high-growth sectors and expand into Southeast Asia and the MENA region.
The acquisition of L.earn adds an important layer to Vahan’s offerings. The platform provides vernacular, mobile-first upskilling content for frontline workers across logistics, manufacturing, and retail. By embedding skilling into the job search journey, Vahan.ai aims to boost worker employability and help them access better-paying, long-term roles.
“This partnership accelerates Vahan.ai’s ambition to build the most advanced AI-led infrastructure for employment in India’s informal sector,” Krishna added. “We’re building not just a hiring engine, but a career ecosystem for Bharat.”
Glenn Gore, CEO of LemmaTree, said, “We are thrilled to join forces with Vahan.ai as they redefine how businesses connect with frontline workers across India and beyond. Vahan’s innovative platform and passionate team are unlocking new opportunities for millions, driving both economic empowerment and operational efficiency.”
